Vintage Quote: “Everybody wants to define everything. Is it necessary to define love?”

Who can say it better and more directly than an all time rock diva and favorite Patti Smith? Ladies and gentlemen a great recommendation – read her new book Just Kids while eating grilled cheese sandwich and drinking black coffee from the local diner in Brooklyn.

Great style and photo from Mr. Sartorialist himself.

Vintage Quote: It’s Nice to be Nice.

Ladies & gentlemen, the buzz word for the last 2-3 years among youngsters in Copenhagen has been the word nice. It’s been used in more defined and undefined ways, but I think it’s time to get the real grip about the word:

Definition of nice: adjective.

1. Pleasant; agreeable; satisfactory : we had a nice time | that wasn’t very nice of him | Jeremy had been very nice to her.
• (of a person) pleasant in manner; good-natured; kind : he’s a really nice guy.
2 fine or subtle : a nice distinction.
• requiring careful thought or attention : a nice point.
3 archaic fastidious; scrupulous.

Vintage Fleamarket: Inspiration from Fort Greene in NY

Going back memory lane. Ladies & gentlemen spring is coming and fleamarkets will soon pop-up every weekend so stay tuned. The above pictures are from the outdoor Fort Greene Saturday market, which  is closed for the season and will reopen the first weekend in April 2011. The Flea features hundreds of top vendors of antique and repurposed furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles and antiques, as well as new jewelry, art and crafts by local artisans and designers, plus delicious fresh food.

The Flea will also launch a new/second location on Sundays in Williamsburg, on the waterfront at N. 7 St., also in April. Check out more information here.

Vintage Home: Create your Personale Space.

Home is a personal space – a space where you can relax, be creative, sleep under a fluffy soft duvet, eat Sunday roast, drink gin & tonic or whiskey on the rocks while chit chatting with sophisticated ladies & gentleman. These images are from one of my long time favorite blogs the selby. Take a good look around your personal space is it time to redecorate?

Vintage Icon: Writer & Poet Oscar Wilde

Who wouldn’t like to be invited into the Irish poet and writer Oscar Wilde’s (1854-1900) universe on a Wednesday and listen to some of his very modern, critic and diverse quotes. Ladies & gentlemen read yourself and maybe walk down to the nearest antique store to find yourself a beautiful copy of his great novel The Picture of Dorian Grey. Enjoy your day!

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
“Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.”
“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.”
“The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.”
“I am not young enough to know everything.”
“The heart was made to be broken.”
“America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.”
“Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”
“The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.”
“Who, being loved, is poor?”
